Religion played an important role in the everyday life of the family. Preserved in the collections are important religious artifacts which survived through Nazi and Communist desecrations of the family’s private chapels, such as a 12th-century cross of gilded copper and rock crystal and a 14th-century gilded reliquary bust of a female saint, presumably St. Ursula.
